Encrypt the Web! Automatically use HTTPS security on many sites.
This extension is brought to you by EFF – Electronic Frontier Foundation, a leading nonprofit organization defending civil liberties in the digital world.
While browsing the web as usual, HTTPS Everywhere will automatically switch thousands of sites from insecure “http” to secure “https”.
It will protect you against many forms of surveillance and account hijacking, and some forms of censorship. Most times, you won’t even be aware of the change.
It won’t work on any website, obviously, but it’s better to be safe where ever it’s possible.
You will find the extension icon inside the URL bar, and not next to your other extensions.
If you want to add a website to the list and use it with HTTPS (if possible), click on the extension icon and then “Add this site”.
You can also add rules to each site and see the list of sites that are already listed with their SSL encrypted version.
It’s an open source project, with a big supportive community of talented developers.
If you want to be a contributor, you can find all details on Github.
Who is it for? Everyone
We should all support these open source solutions, to make the web a safer place.
Install it for yourself and for the community.
