Are you a developer battling with the reason for the decreasing speed of your page? Or just curious Joe trying to know why a web page is slow? Worry no more, as you can now detect what’s wrong in real-time.

Sonar, a brand new Chrome extension, allows you to quickly see performance attributes of websites as you browse the web. Then extension fills you in with technical details of the Internet page performance in real-time. The implications of this extension are immediately apparent. The extension helps both end-users and developers understand why a web page might be slow or experiencing problems.

How it Works

The extension features an interface that displays advanced statistics of your current web page. At first glance the number stats show on the panel may seem a bit overwhelming. The first page features as many as 15 parameters. Also, switching to any of the three additional tabs reveal more statistics.

Sonar does more that just showing stats. Aside from the display of page metrics, this extension also analyzes the page to give you a breakdown of what’s working and what’s not. You get critical parameters such as bottlenecks (slow requests) and lots more.

Setting up the Sonar is easy as you simply have to download it from the extension store. Once you install the extension, it auto activates and monitors your page performance in the background. A click on the extension will almost instantaneously provide you with results.

Verdict

While this is an apt extension for performance monitoring, it will be too much for most everyday users. Sonar is clearly targeted at developers and more technical users, and for this niche, it delivers excellently.
