In the last few months we see how the Chrome web store starts to make interesting initiatives with different communities from around the web.
It first started with the creation of the “Chrome Store Collection” in which the Chrome store team itself recommends on new and updated extensions that they love.
Then, they made a first cooperation with a third party website that we all love and read – Lifehacker. With this cooperation, Lifehacker got a dedicated section in the Chrome store and recommended their best extensions.
Now, a new collaboration has started, this time with the awesome Product Hunt!
Product Hunt, for those of you that are not part of this world, surfaces the best new products, every day. It’s a place for product-loving enthusiasts to share and geek out about the latest mobile apps, websites, hardware projects, and tech creations.
This PH section is called the “Product Hunt Gems” and shows “Impressive up and coming extensions loved by the Product Hunt community”.
This section shows great extensions like Giphy, Point, UpTo and many more..
We’re always in favor of these kind of cooperations.
We think it’s really nice to have those influencers sharing their thoughts and recommending great products.
But (there’s always a but), we also think that it is more important to first improve the Chrome Store ranking algorithm, because today, it’s just not working.
Everyday we see lots of old, not updated and even not working extensions in the first spots… It seems that good reviews, many installs and an awesome product stopped being a factor in the last year or two.. Too bad.
